9/4/03 A Cruise Ship in the Hudson:
When leaving Circle Line today, I saw this cruise ship leaving New York. All
cruise ships that come to New York City only have one parking lot that they
can fit in: The Ship Terminal on the West Side un the upper 40's. That happens
to be right next to Circle Line's 43rd street pier, and so I often get to see
these behemoths entering and leaving New York via the Hudson River. By all accounts,
the Hudson is a wide river... except when these guys are floating in it... then
the Hudson seems narrow. I would like to take one of these, once people stop
getting sick en-masses on board.
In the below photo, look closely at the top deck on the right, and you'll see little black spots. Those are PEOPLE.
