10/05/03 Hanging with Rich at La Petite Abeille and Kura Sushi:

La Petite Abeille. A lovely little Belgian hole in the wall in Tribeca on Hudson Street. Rich and I had planned to go for brunch at Bubby's on Hudson St. and North Moore, a place we had never been to, but heard was good on the interweb. Rich had been searching for brunch places, and apparently so had a lot of other people, because when we got there, it was totally packed. So, we walked up Hudson, cursing the day, until we found this place.

It was all right. The French fries were particularly excellent. Rich tried the Eggs Benedict and liked them a good deal. I had jam on toast and thick mushroom soup, and it also was very tasty. I had to quickly run back downtown, change from my jeans into khakis, and get over to Circle Line at 2:00pm, as I had been called in late in the day to fill in for a special charter. Rich continued on without me, doing some errands in the general neighborhood.

That evening, we met for our next meal, which was at Kura Sushi. Richard ordered the wasabi shumai, and it came out looking like shumai with a bad hair day.

FRIED green tea ice cream. A day with Rich is a day with good food.
