6/29/04 Elana and Etienne; George & I at Deena Levy; Rich cooks Shrimp; 3am Biking w/Rich to Lanterna for lost Umbrella & Coffee:

This afternoon, Elana and her boyfriend were in the area and came over for lunch. We ate at a small Mexican place right across the street from my building.

They're fun together. [Elana, don't cry.]

In the evening, George and I went to a small black box theatre near Times Square to tape the Deena Levy Theatre Studio end-of-semester performance. It's 20 adults doing 2 to 3 person scenes as the culmination of their work, up to that point, with Deena Levy as their acting teacher. The shows are usually very good.

George and I sit across from each other in the back row area.

When we got back to the apartment at like 11pm, Richard was still just putting the final touches on his main course for the evening, for himself.

And then, at like 3am, Richard realizes that his umbrella is missing, figures he lost it at his favorite cafe "La Lanterna" on MacDougal street, fairly recently, and he, being still wide awake, wants to bike up there on this beautiful evening, to get it. I agree.

We put some air in my tires, and in Peter's bike's tires, which we are currently baby-sitting.

Upon reaching the cafe... there's no such umbrella. But there's still... cafe!

So Rich sits by the door while I wait outside with our lock-less bikes.

La Lanterna stays open till 4am most nights.

We leisurely bike back through some local streets in SOHO and have a great time. We pass the firehouse that they used for the location shots in Ghostbusters, the movie.

This is it!

Inside, looking through the windows on the garage door, one can see the original Ghostbusters sign hanging on the wall inside... lit up, too!
