8/15/04 A Detailed Tour of Buck's Rock with Louie, Natalie, Tiffany and others:

Today, Natalie and I were going to join Louie and his friend on a day trip to Buck's Rock to see a Clown Show!

But first, Peter looks fine!

We had breakfast on Long Island before heading out.

First stop: Stew Leonards!

We came just to take a quick look, and show those amongst us that don't know what Stew Leonards is all about: Animatronics!

They have these dancing characters advertising products spread throughout the store.

I was sad that they ran out of free O. J.

Hit the button, and the twinkie guy pops up.

And so we stood around like morons, with all the other morons (and kids) and watched the dancing... things.

In this case... milk products. Dancing and singing about... milk products.

Standing ovation!

Then we headed up to camp.

We found signs of life on the porch.

Wood Shop.

Ceramics.

Wood exterior.

Sculpture across from Wood.

Glass.

Sculpture.

A new mural on the back of the Publications shop, as we head down to the Painting Studio.

The airbrush wall.

This sign on the side of the pub shop was recently revealed after a long time of being covered up by an art installation. Soon, another art installation will take its place. Technically, this sign is not being "removed."

Just... encroached upon.

Then I visited the Pub shoppe:

And the Photo shop:

The Dark Room.

And Metals/Jewelry.

From Right to Left: Sarah Wolkowitz, Louie, Tiffany Morningstar, Erica Zeller, ???

Then, at Batik, Louie found his old scribbling on the wall:

Then we visited the Actor's studio, where the Clown Show will be held this evening.

The lighting booth is looking good!

A random small child, probably the child of a staff member, because she was too young to be a camper (11-16yrs) but too alone to be visiting, came up to Natalie and I and showed us the frog she found.

And then we climbed "Buck's Rock."

Slowly.

It wasn't this scary when I was 16.

The Music Shed was closed by the time we got there. But it was good to see the keyboard still painted on their stage.

This was my old bunk in 1998. It's still teetering dangerously close to collapsing down the cliff.

The Radio Station.

Still using antiques.

The schedule of shows. I dominated the schedule in 1993.

They are using a Bush Cheney poster as a doormat. Awesome.

We finally got into the Clown Shop, and we found them to have a new couch!!!

And we looked at old props on the walls.

Then Louie and Sara engaged in a very bizarre sort of dance, where they play-acted the dolls they were holding... but inside their original boxes.

I made this sign in 1998.

The shop is collecting the whole set. Just because... it's funny.

We always grab a meal in the dining hall when we visit to see the Clown Show. Unfortunately we hit up Pizza night.

After the meal, we stood around in a big circle outside the back of the dining hall, just like would happen by accident when we were all at camp together. You just have to finish those conversations, even if you're standing next to the garbage.

Then we watched the clown show:

They do two shows a night, to accommodate the huge crowds that generally come to Clown Shows. This was the line we saw on our way out. Then we headed back home.
