9/16/04 I break a piece of Stained Glass; Peter's last meal in the states at Sarin:
This afternoon I was home on Long Island, prepared to continue working on the stained glass project that I hoped to finish before the weather turned cold. The first thing I did was to start grinding a large orange piece that I had painstakingly cut to shape last time I was at my workshop. The piece, and my hands, were wet with moisture as I had just we the grinder wheel, and as I began to grind, the piece flew out of my hands to the left, landing on the brick patio, and smashing into a dozen pieces.
The piece belonged to 7D. Seeing it smash, and the thought of going back a step, sucked the wind out of me, and I needed to take a break from the project from frustration. I stopped working for the day. I can't do a hobby that I do for the sake of relaxation and meditation while I'm agitated.
This evening, Peter, Mommy and I went to a really great Thai restaurant in Greenvale, of all places, called Sarin. I had been here once before, I think with Matt and Kim and perhaps some others from High School, and I didn't really understand the cuisine yet at that point, as my palette was far less... evolved back then. Now, having tasted the offerings of many Thai restaurants since then, I know this one to be one of the best.
Green Papaya Salad. This kills my mom. The sweetness of the sauce, the crunchiness of the green papaya, and the spiciness of the flavoring come together perfectly in this dish.
Dumplings of some sort.
Mommy got a grilled shrimp over spinach dish, with a brown sauce. The amount of shrimp they gave here was more than she could eat. The spinach was extremely fresh, and surprisingly tasty for having not been doused in butter.
Peter got some sort of a chicken curry that I ate some of, as it was excellent.
Peter is going bye-bye on a Jet Plane tomorrow!!!
