9/29/04 The Liebowitzes, Natalie, Rich, Mom, and I at Show Win:
Natalie wanted a DVD of the classic Disney animated feature: Robin Hood. I helped her get it on Ebay, as it is not available in stores anymore. She is pleased with her suggestion for my purchase. :)
We all took the LIRR together out to Show Win so that Russell and Diane and Ira could see what all our hype was about.
A special salad a la Chef Tom.
Oysters Allen.
This was octopus based, to the surprise of all.
Tuna tataki with a twist.
Chef Tom prepared 4 wooden palates for the 7 of us. One for My Mom and Aunt Diane to share. One for Ira and Russell to share. One for Myself and Natalie to share. And... One for RICHARD ALONE. Chef Tom has an excellent memory.
Sake Bomb!!!!
Rich was flabbergasted when he realized why there were 4 boards for the 7 of us. He was scratching his head, wondering, how is Tom doing the math? Then he found out, and he was thrilled and tickled to death.
On the far back right there is one of favorites of chef Tom's. He calls it a "Pillow." It's got spicy tuna and other common roll insides, but it's wrapped in a soy bean dumpling.
Beef Negimaki for Aunt Diane.
Tuna and crab in a cucumber roll with Ponzu sauce.
Uni (Sea Urchin) on the left, and black caviar on the right. Both hard to eat in too large of a quantity, I think.
People ate the top out of the sushi, as we were SO FULL by this point, nobody wanted the rice below.
We took up almost the whole sushi bar!
Natalie ordered an extra salad because she LOVES japanese house salads.
I love that the TV remote is covered in Saran Wrap.
We then did one round of Sake Bomb with the three chefs behind the bar.You drop a shot of Sake into your mug of beer and you chug it as fast as you can! Rich, Natalie, Ira and I attempted it. Only Natalie was able to chug her whole mug in one shot. Ira was a close second. Rich and I were wussies and sipped them for the next 5 minutes (and got trashed from it anyway).
Fried Banana.
Moon Cake! In fact, Chef Tom told us a few months ago that today was the day he would have moon cake because of the chinese new year. And, lo and behold, when we asked about it, he presented us with two types.. a dark red bean version, and a light lotus root version.
To sweeten the bill.
EEsh.
Wooo! Sake Bomb!
In the parking lot, both Rich and Russell impressed each other with their knowledge on a range of topics.
We were all thrilled and satisfied, and perhaps will come again next year. [When we make back the money.]
