11/3/04 Four More Years! Post-election depression sets in:
John Stewart suddenly looks worried on the cover of his textbook.
I went home last night to be depressed by the election coverage. I had my mom in the next room watching her own channel, I had my tv, and I checked web sites in real time while talking to my cousin Russell, 12, over instant messenger. I felt like I was in charge of my own little war room... and we lost the war.
I hung around with mommy in the car today. We kept each other company, with the radio reluctantly on, like not being able to look away from a car crash, until Kerry gave his concession, and we couldn't take it any more. It was time for me to head back into the city, and begin the next four years of my life. Fingers still very crossed. Nearby was the Rockaway Boulevard station on the A train, where mom dropped me off.
From the end of the elevated platform, I could see the empire state building in the very background, over a ridge. I was at the very far end of the largest borough of New York: Queens.
I transferred off of the A train at Hoyt-Schermerhorn, because a "crazy" was in my car.
This evening, Natalie introduced me to high end spanish food at a place called Pepa. I wasn't that hungry, but what I had was fantastic!
Being a lover of the appetizer, the plate below was very appealing to me. It was like a make your own bruschetta dish, in a way. The goat cheese and peppers on the toasted bread ended up being my favorite combination:
