11/10/04 Snooping Around the Potential New Neighborhood:
This evening, Rich and I thought, for the first time in forever, that perhaps we should seek out dinner in Brooklyn. After all, it suddenly seems that it might be our new neighborhood, and we can do some reconnaissance at the same time. I loved the apartment I saw yesterday afternoon, and I loved it's proximity to transit, but the one X factor was it's surroundings.
We ended up in a sister neighborhood at first, called Cobble Hill, on Smith Street. It's a few wide avenues away. It had an incredibly long strip of little stores and cute restaurants. I took a photo into this tai place that seems to have live piano music!
It's called Tuk Tuk.
Rich and I also took special note of this Sushi Bar called Osaka.
Then we checked out the Atlantic Terminal construction progress, as it is 4 blocks from the place we want.
It's like a private mini Penn Station. It's the other western end of the Long Island Railroad.
Rich and I were very impressed with what we saw of some of the surroundings, and were even more excited about hopefully getting the apartment on St. Marks. Place.
