12/14/04 Breakfast with Rich; More
Kahn Photos with George; Staten Island Ferry Construction:

Being that I'm writing the captions almost 9 months after this
occurred, I can't remember if the above photo of Richard was from this
morning or late last night. I have a few good reasons in mind why this
is most likley from late last night. Perhaps Natalie and I went back to
my place at 88 Greenwich. And then perhaps after she fell asleep, Rich
asked me, still awake, if I was hungry. And I was, and then we went out
for my second dinner. Or... this was from early this morning, before I
had to go tape a play. Not sure. With Rich, it could be either way.
This morning, I was back at the old Otto Kahn Mansion. Here's more
photos:

Later, in the afternoon, I happened upon the Staten Island Ferry
Terminal, which is almost finished being completely rebuilt.

It remains to be seen wether the lettering on the city side is a bit
much or not.

This canopy is to extend out over the new loop for buses.

This is the temporary subway entrance to the 1/9 trains... this is
before the reconstruction of this station has begun.

This afternoon, Rich and I went down into the basement offices of our
management, and we scheduled a time to move our and check out. We saw a
brilliant white board in the office that had each apartment number
written on a magnet, and organized by floor. There are far more
apartments on the lower floors, which is why there is a curved pattern
to the magnets. On the far left and bottom, the magnets are in their
resting position. But when an apartment needs to be dealt with, they
move it to the corresponding place in the upper right. Very low-tech,
but probably very effective.

And, finally, this evening, I happened upon Grand Central Terminal in a
shroud, as they once again to major exterior work on the building. This
is the view of the famous front from just south of 42nd street on Park
Avenue South.
