01/03/05 Peter & David have Udon; Celebrating Erin and Aaron's Engagement; Richard's Window gets Dressed:

This morning, David and Peter had a lovely chinatown breakfast.

This evening, Natalie and I picked up an Eileene's Cheesecake, and went over to Aaron's apartment to congratulate him and Erin on their engagement! Even though they've been together for 5 years, since our Freshman year of college, it's still kind of a shock to see the fairly sizeable rock on Erin's finger. They have announced that they are moving to California in June so that Aaron can go to law school, and so that Erin can pursue Acting in a much larger pool of work (L.A.).

But before all that, we played a puzzle-book game. 6 pieces fit together to make a solid shape in only one very hard to figure out combination of positions.

Before Erin arrived from a late night at her job (which she has come to hate) at her kids-gym, we decorated the cake.

Natalie got so into figuring this one out, that I'm not sure she noticed the fork on her back.

Then Erin arrived, ecstatic to show us the ring! And she said that even though she's been showing it to tons of people for a few days now, she's still as excited as she was when she first put it on! She so.... marry-happy.

The kitchen was not much help in cutting up the cake, as Mike and Aaron have basically pretended that they do not have a kitchen. So, they don't even have a knife!! Or any utensils. This is because their kitchen, which has a range, an oven, a sink, a few cabinets and drawers, and a fridge.... is only about 1 foot wide. The oven door can't even open all the way before hitting the opposite wall!!!

So, we had to cut the cake with a plastic fork. (Probably the one I just stuck on Natalie's back!)

They did decorate their almost totally-empty fridge with magnets.

After celebrating with Erin and Aaron, we came back to Brooklyn, and found Rich and his dad, hanging curtain rods and putting up blinds, etc.
